Thank you, IBC 2024!

We had a blast at IBC 2024 earlier this September. This fantastic event allowed us to meet other movers and shakers of our innovative industry and showcase the latest developments of our analytics and low latency, live content delivery technology. We were also delighted to co-host drinks on Friday afternoon alongside our newest partner, Arqiva, which was a great opportunity to introduce new contacts to the solutions that make up our Data Logistics Platform, giving us the time and space to demonstrate their full capabilities.

IBC 2024: Key themes for our industry

This year, the key pillars of IBC 2024 were content, collaboration, and creativity, exploring how the media industry and market are rapidly evolving. The three-day conference provided an in-depth look at the key challenges facing the media, entertainment, and technology sectors. The sessions focused on education, inspiration, and entertainment, and keynote speakers shared fresh perspectives that could reshape our industry's future. IBC 2024 focused on six main topics: Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Advertising Technology, OTT & Streaming, Connected Technologies, and Immersive Technology, each one reflecting the most critical advancements shaping broadcasting and content creation today.

Edge Analytics: Unprecedented visibility

Edge Analytics is our data analytics and diagnostic solution. This state-of-the-art technology is designed to provide content publishers with detailed insights into the performance of their content streams and delivery strategy by scanning the network in real-time during each live broadcast. This solution offers unprecedented visibility over the entire content delivery network by monitoring all ASN routers —from CDNs to end devices— providing dozens of metrics that are displayed across intuitive dashboards.

This data allows content publishers and distributors to monitor network conditions, observe viewers and their behavior and proactively optimize content delivery before issues arise. The data captured by Edge Analytics can also be utilized for analysis following an event to detect and analyze areas for improvement, or understand what went right in order to replicate successful strategies. At IBC, we were able to demonstrate exactly how this solution works, watch nodes connect and stream, and observe the network’s performance in real-time.

Edge Intelligence: Low latency live content delivery

Our Data Logistics Platform also features Edge Intelligence, which works hand in hand with Edge Analytics to optimize live streaming for broadcasts around the world. Edge Intelligence works by leveraging the data gathered by Edge Analytics to find the fastest route for live content delivery, even at peak times for high-demand events. The solution then uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to create centralized broadcast trees that bypass traditional CDNs to deliver content directly to viewers’ devices. This approach ensures superior quality of experience (QoE), faster video start times, minimal buffering, and high-resolution content, even in hard-to-reach regions —due to topographical challenges or areas that are underserved by CDNs.

Edge Intelligence is, therefore, capable of delivering content at the highest possible bitrate to cater to audiences and devices of all kinds, overcoming last-mile edge server failures. By offloading up to 80% of traffic onto P2P broadcast trees, System73 significantly reduces reliance on physical CDNs, leading to savings of up to 65% in delivery costs for clients. This cost-effective strategy not only minimizes financial obligations but also offers lower delivery rates per GB, making System73 an ideal partner for low-cost, high-performance live content delivery. Thanks to events like IBC, we are able to show potential new partners exactly how our technology works, how secure it is given our centralized monitoring system and the cost-savings it could offer, even for high-profile events with global demand.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event and the opportunity to show even more industry insiders the potential our solutions have to optimize content delivery for the benefit of both content publishers and their viewers in an increasingly competitive market.
